Specializing in LGBTQIA+ Affirming Care and Substance Use Therapy
Brené Brown
When I was struggling with crippling anxiety, my life felt out of control. My way of coping was trying to control anything I could. I learned controlling everything takes hard work. The more I tried to control, the less I had. Life felt hopeless and isolating because I felt I was the only one with these problems. I asked myself what was wrong with me. Shame came next, feeling I had failed to keep myself together.
In my own therapy, I learned I was not alone. Lots of people struggled in the same way I did. I now know addiction and mental health issues don't discriminate. I experienced firsthand how impactful therapy can be. The "why" behind my problems began to make sense. I started to understand what healthy coping looked like and how to build lasting relationships.
Therapy brought me hope. And I believe it can do the same for you. Human beings are profoundly resilient. We have this ability to come back from our struggles. Therapy gives us the space to cry, scream or laugh knowing how hard life can be and then do the work toward growth and healing.
Reaching out for help can be SO scary. Sometimes we have to do the hard stuff when we want more for ourselves. Sometimes we need extra support. And that is perfectly normal! Therapy offers a reset to figure out our next step and how to get there. My approach is empathetic and person-centered.
I enjoy grabbing coffee with friends, rock-climbing, walking with my dog Buffy and re-watching Ted Lasso and Harry Potter.
I am a therapist who is in therapy. One who continues to walk my path of healing, which is never linear. If you want judgment free anxiety therapy, let's get in touch.
